THE STORY OF REBEL MUZIK
A native of Trinidad and Tobago, Rebel Muzik started his journey into music at the young age of 11. He began by making mixed tapes (cassettes) for his friends, quickly becoming the “go-to” guy for music. His passion soon led him into DJing and music production.
Influenced by his family’s love for music, he grew up watching his father DJ family events and listening to relatives perform in a small family band. Inspired by these experiences, he began taking apart old radios and stereos to build his own music systems. Recognizing his talent, his parents encouraged him to DJ at family events when he was just 14 years old.
As he expanded to performing at local bars and pubs, Rebel realized music was his calling. At 19, he migrated to the United States, where he continued pursuing his passion as a Caribbean DJ known as “DJ ANDY” in New York and Texas. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Prince, Bob Marley, Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson, Lord Kitchener, Garnett Silk, and Machel Montano, he developed an effortless ability to blend genres and energize audiences.
His signature style—mixing Soca with Reggae, Hip Hop, Salsa, R&B, Throwbacks, and Top 40 hits—earned him the name “DJ Soca Rebel.” Performing across the United States, he became known for his electrifying stage presence and unforgettable performances that kept crowds moving until sunrise.
In 2012, Rebel founded REBEL MUZIK, a music production company based in Queens, New York. The following year, he joined the United States Army while continuing to pursue his musical ambitions. During his service, he performed at military functions, including Annual Ball events, and became recognized as the house DJ for various military engagements.
After leaving the military honorably, Rebel dedicated himself to expanding his artistry and brand. In 2016, he earned the title of Crowd Favorite as a finalist in the International Soca DJ Competition for Trinidad & Tobago Carnival. Driven by a desire to master his craft, he went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from Full Sail University, studying Music Theory, Orchestration, Film and TV Music, Sound Design, Gaming Audio, Mixing & Mastering, and Sound Engineering.
Today, Rebel Muzik is both a celebrated DJ and music producer whose work has transcended borders. His production credits include Machel Montano, Bunji Garlin, Konshens, Mr. Killa, Lyrikal, Preedy, Ravi B, KI, Humble the Poet, Teddy Rhymez, Imani Ray, Wildfire, Skinny Fabulous, and many others.
From stadium stages and world-renowned nightclubs across the United States, Europe, Japan, South America, Canada, and the Caribbean, Rebel Muzik continues to push creative boundaries. Featured on a Times Square billboard and interviewed by radio, television, and press outlets worldwide, he remains committed to crafting a unique musical experience that bridges Caribbean rhythms with global sounds.
